Both versions of Aton Connect for Windows Mobile access corporate data from IBM System z (mainframes), IBM System i (AS/400) and Unix/Linux enterprise servers for use in sales, customer service, system administration, transportation, retail and manufacturing. Unlike "web-to-host" applications which require an Internet server to deliver data to the phone's web browser, Aton Connect software is totally contained on the phone.

Aton Connect works with a company's existing infrastructure to access data directly from enterprise servers using terminal emulation. The tiny software client (640 KB) displays that information on the users phone in a "green screen" format very similar to the one on the user's laptop or desktop. There is no new server software to buy. It is not necessary to modify programming on the enterprise servers themselves. This makes Aton Connect for Windows Mobile a very low cost, quick to implement option for meeting data needs outside of the office.

This is end to end encryption from the instant of connection. All passwords and data transferred between your phone and your enterprise server are encrypted enroute. This encryption is independent of and in addition to other encryption that may be provided by your wireless carrier. Aton Connect also provides compatibility with IPSec and SSL VPN clients provided by Cisco, SonicWall, BlueFire Security, Juniper Systems and others. Ease of use features include full screen mode, full terminal emulation soft keyboard on touch screen phones, keyboard shortcuts for non-touch screens and "on the fly" session switching which allow the user to access both host server and corporate intranet or the Internet without having to exit a program. An incoming phone call will send the user's data session to the background where it is easily retrieved once the phone call is over.
