Segway Trade-in Program is Incentive for Repeat Customers

(PRWEB) December 19, 2007 -- Segway of Oakland has announced a trade-in offer. Bring in an older unit and they will give thousands of dollars in trade-in value with the purchase of a new one - $3,000 for Segways with lithium batteries, $2,000 for units with nickel batteries, and $1,000 for non-operational units with all parts intact.

"This is a limited-time offer. We will continue accepting trade-ins even after Christmas," explained Segway of Oakland partner Darren Romar. "We are a little more lenient right now than before."

In the spirit of the holidays, Segway of Oakland is offering four free accessories worth a combined retail value of $370. The offer applies only to purchase of a new unit, and does not apply to trade-ins. The accessories are some of the most popular with customers, including comfort mat, reflectivity strips, handlebar bag and a lock.

Segway of Oakland partner Steve Steinberg said the trade-in program works well for enthusiasts and commuters who put a lot of miles onto their self-balancing, all-electric Segways and want to upgrade every so often.

"We have had a lot of trade-ins already," he said. "It is popular with user groups and Segway polo."

Romar predicts a sales spike as holiday shoppers who've been leaning towards buying a new Segway decide to take the plunge, and start seeing instant savings in their transportation budgets as they replace use of the car.

"A Segway is the answer to gas and energy savings and it is a perfect, timely gift," he said.
