Hard Dollar(R) Joins Autodesk(R) Developer Network to Help Customers Streamline Critical Project Processes and Improve Systems Interoperability:
TEMPE, Ariz. (Business Wire EON) December 3, 2007 -- Hard Dollar's entry to ADN is part of Hard Dollar's ongoing Interoperability Initiative, which focuses on improving the integration of existing project and enterprise management systems in use within the construction and engineering industry. By better aggregating and connecting all project data and project processes, Hard Dollar customers eliminate costly integration activities and cumbersome import/export processes that slow project progress and increase project costs. Similar partnerships completed in the past two years with Primavera(R) and Microsoft(R) are already bringing process and cost returns to Hard Dollar customers involved in complex construction and engineering projects.
"We welcome Hard Dollar to the Autodesk Developer Network," said Jim Quanci, Director, Autodesk Developer Network. "Through our partnership we look forward to helping our customers maximize the value of their design data."
"Today more than ever, customers expect a seamless flow of information between the critical software solutions they use to run their businesses," said Alistair Johnson-Claque, President and CEO of Hard Dollar. "The promise of BIM requires close cooperation among the software developers whose products contribute to a complete project model, and Hard Dollar has set its sights on providing even further benefit to our customers through integration of budgets and CAD models. Coupled with the drastic efficiencies already provided to the market by tightly integrating Hard Dollar budgets with Microsoft Project and Primavera schedules, this initiative will help engineering and construction organizations to vastly simplify project management processes."
It has been estimated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology that the lack of systems interoperability currently costs the construction industry $15.8 billion per year. Contributing to these losses, cost engineers and estimators often are required to start from scratch each time a project goes from the design stage into the estimating and budgeting stage, resulting in significant redundancy of tasks (such as quantity take-off and identifying resource requirements for a project). By combining Autodesk's CAD model data with Hard Dollar, the same information can be repurposed in the project processes that follow the design phase. The result is less redundant effort, more timely and accurate information flow, and faster overall project throughput.
